For the past couple of days, there were rumors that are spreading online that Levi’s time as Shazam in the DCU is over soon with Fury of the Gods as his last film. However, it hasn’t been confirmed yet by James Gunn, who has been actively confirming or debunking rumors on Twitter, nor anyone in DC Studios. Now, Levi has responded to the rumor on Twitter where he seemingly debunked the Shazam recast rumor as he reminded fans to not believe everything that they’re seeing on the internet. “Oooh, I really wouldn’t go believing everything you see on the internet. I’m Gucci, Ash. We all Gucci,” he wrote.
Based on this tweet from the actor, it looks like we can definitively say for now that Levi will remain as Shazam in the DCU unless Gunn makes an announcement otherwise. This should relieve fans who have been anxiously waiting for the fate of the character in the new DCU, especially since Levi has become beloved in the role ever since he was first introduced back in 2019, and a lot of cheering for him to continue for years to come. However, there is still a chance that Gunn and Safran will announce later on that Levi will no longer continue in the role after the release of Fury of the Gods, especially in the midst of the recent announcement that Dwayne Johnson will not return to the role of Black Adam anytime soon. For now, all we can do is wait and see for any definitive answer from Gunn and Safran themselves.
