When Wednesday got released, the show instantly shot to the top spot of trending Netflix shows. Since the show only had eight seasons, many can’t help but wonder if there will be more seasons of Wednesday in the future, especially since there were only a few episodes that featured her kooky family. Here’s what we know about the future of the show, Wednesday:

Has Netflix Renewed Wednesday for a Second Season?

As of this writing, the streaming giant has not yet made any announcements regarding the future of Wednesday. And this is expected, especially since the show just premiered. It’s possible that we will get a decision after the first two weeks of the show’s release. But it’s also possible that it will take months before Netflix decides to renew Wednesday for a second season, just like it did with The Sandman. But as for co-showrunner, Miles Millar, it’s definitely a possibility. The showrunner told TVLine: “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters and the actors are so amazing in those roles. Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forger her own path outside the family is important.” Millar also plans to feature the family in some episodes just like what they did with the first season. And they will expand the show more with the addition of new characters along the way.

Possible Wednesday Season 2 Cast

It’s likely that the core characters from the first season will be back to reprise their roles, except, probably the characters that were killed off like Rowan (played by Calum Ross), Mayor Noble Walker (played by Tommie Earl Jenkins), and Dr. Valerie Kinbott (played by Riki Lindhome). It’s also possible that Marilyn Thornhill/Laurel Gates (played by Christina Ricci) won’t be returning since it’s implied that she was taken care of via Eugene’s (played by Moosa Mostafa) bees. In the ending, though, we saw Tyler (played by Hunter Doohan) shifted to his Hyde monster persona while wearing a straight jacket but it’s unclear if he was commanded by his master or someone else. And that leaves us with the possible cast for Wednesday Season 2:

Jenna Ortega (as Wednesday Addams)Emma Myers (as Enid Sinclair)Joy Sunday (as Bianca Barclay)Percy Hynes White (as Xavier Thorpe)Jamie McShane (as Sheriff Galpin)Victor Dorobantu (as the hand of Thing)Catherine Zeta-Jones (as Morticia Addams)Luis Guzmán (as Gomez Addams)Fred Armisen (as Uncle Fester)Isaac Ordonez (as Pugsley)George Burcea (as Lurch)

And although we saw Principal Larissa Weems (played by Gwendoline Christie) die in the first season, the actress teased her return via Digital Spy: “We haven’t seen her put in the ground, have we? I feel like Larissa Weems would not really be prepared to entertain or be dominated by anything as commonplace as death.” We’ll know more once the show gets renewed for a second season.

Possible Wednesday Season 2 Story

While the showrunner has revealed his interest in introducing more family members in future seasons, it’s also possible that we’ll get to see more of the students at Nevermore. For one thing, we never truly know who Xavier Thorpe’s dad is and why he is so keen in maintaining his public image. Not to mention, there’s the whole mystery with Bianca Barclay’s mother, Gabrielle, and the Morning Song community. It’s possible that the second season will shed more light on the sirens and the power they use to influence people via their cult Morning Song app.

It’s also possible that we could see Tyler’s return to the town of Jericho since the end of the first season didn’t really seal the deal on the fate of Ms. Thornhill and her Hyde monster. But of course, these are only speculations. We’ll know for sure once an update becomes available.

Is There a Wednesday Season 2 Trailer?

Right now, the show has not yet been renewed so a trailer has not been released. We’ll continue to update this post once more information becomes available. In the meantime, you can watch this clip of the cast reacting to Wednesday’s dance scene:
