Wednesday just joined the one billion hours watched exclusive cluster of shows on Netflix, the third series to do so, and only behind Squid Game and Stranger Things Season 4. While the 28-day period isn’t over yet, there’s still a chance Wednesday could beat the two titles and be the most watched Netflix series of all time. That being said, there is already a huge possibility for Wednesday Season 2, and while as of the time of writing, there has been no confirmation yet, a Netflix executive, Peter Friedlander, already brings a positive update on the possible renewal of the series. Peter Friedlander, Netflix’s executive of US and Canada scripted series, spoke to Variety about the possibility of having Wednesday Season 2 and if there would be spinoffs for the other members of the Addams family, “You may know what I’m going to say — but I have nothing to confirm at this time. I am optimistic about “Wednesday.” We’ll leave it at that.”

Friedlander emphasized that Wednesday just came out two weeks ago, “Weirdly, because it feels different, but we’re just two weeks into the launch of “Wednesday.” So we’re still really at the beginning of this cultural phenomenon. And there’s a lot to absorb and learn about it.” Friedlander added, “It’s striking how quick something like this can explode on Netflix, and there is a lot you want to hear back from fans and audiences. The resurgence, for me, it’s something that’s been in the culture for a long time — but never this pronounced.” “The marketing approach to “Wednesday” was sizzling. Whether it was the billboards that say, “Honk if you’re dead inside,” or you’re at the airport and you saw those TSA messages inside the bucket, it was everywhere and they really contributed to making it such a hit,” Friedlander concluded.
In the finale of Wednesday Season 1, Wednesday Addams returned home after the summer break and she got threats from an unknown number, which could’ve scared anyone, but she’s Wednesday, these things fascinate her. It also showed that she texts Tyler from the phone she got from Xavier. It confirms one thing: Wednesday got a stalker of her own. This could be the direction for Wednesday Season 2 but knowing Tim Burton, it’s always the unpredictable that makes it through the cut. Wednesday follows the titular Addams family member who transferred into another school, Nevermore Academy, and while she tries to start anew, build new relationships, and get the hang of things, a series of murders arise in town. Wednesday is currently streaming on Netflix. There is still no official word yet on the renewal of the series for Season 2.
