A PR WB Discovery released yesterday (via ComicBook) confirmed that the DCEU has been revamped as simply the “DC Universe” or “DCU”. The production company’s heads Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy said in a statement: “We could not be more excited to have James Gunn and Peter Safran join the team and assume the leadership of the DC Universe.“CEO David Zaslav adds: “DC has among the most entertaining, powerful, and iconic characters in the world and I am thrilled to have the singular and complementary talents of James and Peter joining our world-class team and overseeing the creative direction of the storied DC Universe.“Gunn and Safran who have been named co-heads of DC Studios will oversee the DCU’s future live-action offerings, excluding “elseworld” projects like The Batman 2 and Joker: Folie à Deux. Also Read: Ex-WB Executive Reportedly Vowed to Prevent Henry Cavill’s Superman Comeback Personally speaking, I never quite understood why they referred to it as the “DCEU” to begin with when for the longest time, it only acknowledged the main film continuity. It makes much more sense to just call it “DCU” and Marvel comparisons aside, it has a nice ring to it.Meanwhile, DC’s Black Adam is screening in cinemas worldwide.
