As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, during their recent investor’s call, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav commented on Gunn and Safran’s recent hiring as the heads of DC Studios where he promised that they have a “more unified creative approach” on their vision for the future of the DCU. “I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few months with James and Peter. They have a powerful vision and blueprint that will drive a more unified creative approach that will enable us to realize the full value of one of the world’s most iconic franchises,” Zaslav said.
During the call, the Warner Bros. Discovery CEO also touted several DC projects that are currently in the works such as the Robert Pattinson-starring The Batman 2, the soon-to-be-filmed Joker: Folie à Deux, and Blue Beetle which he gave a shoutout to director Angel Manuel Soto for helming DC’s first film centering on a Latino hero. These latest comments from Zaslav are yet again another assurance from the new leadership of Warner Bros. Discovery that the DCU has a brighter future now than ever before and he trusts Gunn and Safran that they can successfully pull off their long-term plan for the future of the franchise. Now that the duo is currently figuring out the next direction for the DCU in the coming years, we might be hearing some updates and ideas about their plans for the next several months.
