Douglas Cockle recently spoke to Eurogamer where he talked about Henry Cavill’s departure from The Witcher. “Well I think it’s really sad,” Cockle said. “And there’s a lot of people speculating on the reasons why he’s decided to leave, but whatever the reason is, I think it is sad, because Henry, he did a fabulous job as Geralt of Rivia.”
Interestingly, Cockle shared how he had met Cavill when the latter was preparing for his new role. “He felt the same way I do about him not being an emotionless being, and I think we can see that in his performance,” he recalled. Cockle then addressed Cavill’s replacement Liam Hemsworth, stating that he empathizes with the Hunger Games actor. “I feel for him, man,” he said. “Because I don’t know that I’ve seen a lot of Liam’s work […] but it’s an impossible position. Because as an actor, you don’t want to turn an opportunity like that down, but at the same time, he’s stepping into some big shoes, you know.” At this point, we can still expect to see Henry Cavill as Geralt in the third season of The Witcher. However, Liam Hemsworth is set to take over in Season 4 and it is still unclear what the new storyline will be about then. In the meantime, we’ll have to wait for the next season to find out. The Witcher Season 3 has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is already expected to premiere on Netflix next year.
