So what motivated The Corinthian to encourage the Magus to keep Morpheus locked up? Boyd Holbrook explained that the character had a simple dream of his own. Boyd Holbrook recently spoke to Entertainment Weekly where he spoke about The Sandman. Interestingly, the Logan star explained that The Corinthian’s motivations are surprisingly relatable.
“I think we all yearn for something that we don’t have,” Holbrook said. “It’s that feeling of man, that would be nice to hear the crowd cheer after dunking a basketball in a game, or knowing what it feels like to be in love. So there’s a sadness to him and definitely an outsider point of view.” He continued, “When I was in my teenage years, I definitely had a feeling of that outsider quality because there’s something that I was yearning to do, which was to perform and to be a performer, and not really knowing where to find it. There’s a lost quality that we are fumbling through life to find. I think I really relate to that. I’m sure a lot of people can.” In the end, The Corinthian’s decision to betray Morpheus was in vain as Dream managed to unmake him. Still, there is a huge possibility that the character will be back in The Sandman Season 2 and Holbrook can’t wait to play him again. Although The Sandman has been renewed for a second season, it has not yet been revealed when Season 2 will begin production. Likewise, it has not yet been given an official release date.
