In Episode 2 of the isekai anime entitled Shadow Garden Is Born, Cid goes on with his new life as the son of a wealthy family. Despite the very different circumstances in his new life, he continues to train toward his dream of becoming a true mastermind. Cid fights bandits in secret and, one night, he encounters an odd living piece of rotting flesh. After some days of experimenting, he manages to solve the curse, revealing the true person behind it; an elf girl whom he names Alpha. Cid lies to her, pretending to be an old hero who once fought against the demon, Diabolos. Alpha believes his claims that Diabolos might return due to a cult that tries to revive him, and the two form a secret society called “Shadow Garden” to fight against the cult. Three years pass with Cid training with his sister, Claire, without ever managing to beat her. At the age of 15, Claire is meant to enter the royal academy but disappears on her moveout date. Alpha, who has gathered six girls during these years, and who, alongside her, are called the “Shadow Seven,” insists that the cult of Diabolos has kidnapped Claire. Cid believes that the girls are simply role-playing with him. Even when the cultists are killed and Claire escapes, finally leaving for the academy, Cid is under the impression that his sister was abducted by regular bandits. To his surprise, however, the Shadow Seven announce that they’re leaving, suggesting that something more sinister is at hand.
