Puberty is natural but the progress of each child is not the same as that of others since some age faster and some, slower. For the Hawkins gang on Stranger Things, time became a huge villain on the show’s production because they would have to deal with a bunch of kids growing up fast.
In Stranger Things Season 4, they were just supposed to be newbies in high school but in real life, all of them are above 18 years already, except, of course, Noah Schnapp who was just 17 at the time. At this rate, by the time Season 5 arrives, they might all be beyond 20 years old.
Noah Schnapp shares to Flaunt how the directors handled their puberty, “It was the peak time of change, and puberty and growing up and just everything was changing with all of us, and the directors were just not loving it.”
Schnapp also revealed a time when a producer seemingly and indirectly asked him not to grow up, “I remember one of the producers coming up to me and telling me, ‘Noah, is there any way you could just speak in a higher tone and just slouch a little bit? Like, we need you to keep that Season 1 innocence that you had.’”
Schnapp added, “That was like, ‘I don’t know what to tell you. My voice is dropping. I don’t sound young anymore.’”
In an interview with TVLine, the Duffer brothers teased a possible solution to the cast growing up, “I’m sure we will do a time jump. Ideally, we’d have shot Seasons 4 and 5 back to back, but there was just no feasible way to do that. So these are all discussions we’re going to have with our writers when we start the room up.’”

Noah Schnapp is expected to be back on the screens for Stranger Things Season 5 where his character, Will Byers, is expected to be back as a central character of the show after being sidetracked for quite a while and especially with his connection to the Upside Down.
Stranger Things Season 5 looks into following the fiasco in the finale of Season 4 where Hawkins was torn wide open by Vecna as the villain lets the Upside Down get through the place, Max remains unresponsive and in a coma, and Vecna is nowhere to be found.
All the four seasons of Stranger Things are streaming on Netflix. Season 5 has no release date yet.
