Yesterday, Marvel Studios posted on their official Twitter account a 15-second teaser video showing the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever logo before transitioning into Rihanna’s “R” logo and revealing October 28 as the release date for the highly-anticipated song.

Today, Rihanna herself posted on her Twitter account a new 14-second teaser video revealing the song’s title “Lift Me Up” and a preview of her humming. She also confirmed this coming Friday, October 28 as the release date of the song, which will pay tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman.

It is exciting to hear the confirmation that Rihanna is going to be involved in the soundtrack for the upcoming film. Not only because she is a beloved worldwide superstar, but it will also mark her music comeback after six years. It is interesting to see if Kendrick Lamar also returned to work on the soundtrack just like in the first film which we may find out very soon. The film’s premise reads: “Queen Ramonda, Shuri, M’Baku, Okoye, and the Dora Milaje, fight to protect their nation from intervening world powers in the wake of King T’Challa’s death. As the Wakandans strive to embrace their next chapter, the heroes must band together with the help of War Dog Nakia and Everett Ross and forge a new path for the kingdom of Wakanda.” The cast includes Letitia Wright, Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Winston Duke, Dominique Thorne, Florence Kasumba, Michaela Coel, Tenoch Huerta, Martin Freeman, and Angela Bassett. Ryan Coogler directed the film and co-wrote the screenplay with Joe Robert Cole.
