Stone Ocean’s second part is set to release tomorrow, September 1, 2022. Yet fans have noticed that there is barely any promotion from Netflix, whether in the app or through social media. Because of this, fans have voiced their displeasure online regarding the lack of promotion for the show’s next batch. Given that JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has a large and dedicated fanbase, it’s no surprise that there’s a backlash on Netflix for not promoting the show, especially as the first part of Stone Ocean was a big hit when it was released last December 2021. Aside from the lack of social media promotion, some fans have also noticed that the Netflix Media Center page for the show hasn’t been updated yet. As of this article’s writing, the page still shows the release date for Part 1. Though there is an exception, and that is the Netflix France Twitter, which has finally promoted the show’s upcoming release. Aside from the lack of promotion, fans have also been critical of the show’s release schedule. Instead of having it drop weekly, Netflix decided to release the show in 12-episode batches. While this is great for binge-watchers, fans have criticized this as there are no weekly discussions to be had. The term “Netflix Jail” has been thrown around in discussions about Stone Ocean’s release schedule. The term has long been used for Netflix-exclusive anime, especially for shows that are released with a long delay after their Japanese airing. In case you’re unfamiliar, JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Stone Ocean is an anime series adaptation of Hirohiko Araki’s manga of the same name, which was serialized in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 1999 to April 2003. Stone Ocean is the sixth story arc of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and it follows Jolyne Cujoh, the daughter of Jotaro Kujo and currently the only female JoJo. The series follows her as she falls into a trap and is sentenced to 15 years at a maximum-security prison. There, she receives a pendant from her father, causing a mysterious power to awaken inside her. Stone Ocean Part 2 consists of episodes 13-24 and will release on Netflix tomorrow.
