Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe has been eventful. Nine titles came out in 2021, and eight in 2022, the quantity of Marvel content for the past two years has been pretty abundant. With a new slate already lined-up until 2026, it’s safe to say that there are lots of Marvel content that’s about to come with the introduction of the Multiverse Saga, and Phases Five and Six are much like Phase Four, having various titles already given a release date or window. Recently, DC Studios has been facing some shake-up when it comes to the projects that they have, even having Wonder Woman 3 cancelled, and immediately after the news spread like wildfire, a new rumor came out that Marvel Studios would also be cutting down the number of the projects they would release.

In a report from Alex Perez from The Cosmic Circus, the insider revealed that MCU releases will be cut down in 2023 and 2024 for “the sake of keeping quality > quantity,” and noted that the schedule of 2022 having a release for almost every month would be unlikely for the next two years. Looking at the current slate of the MCU, there are three movies and five shows coming out in 2023, and four films and four series in 2024. With the recent rumor, the cut down is quite leaning on the delay of the series rather than the movies which already have release dates. Recently, there’s what is called as the “Marvel Fatigue,” where a third of the fans of the MCU felt fatigue because of the constant release of content in 2022 from Marvel Studios in a study conducted by Fandom, as reported by Variety. A change in the leadership also happened in Disney with Bob Iger returning to replace Bob Chapek. Both of these instances could have been what were considered should the report prove to be true. Indeed, the move could be “quality over quantity,” and could be an answer to the Marvel Fatigue that is happening. Which Marvel Studios projects do you think would be delayed?
