It even beat Overlord to get the 6th spot. Here is the full list of the top 10 most streamed anime in Japan from August 6 to 12, 2022: In the top 10, only three anime from the current season made the ranking. The other two aside from Lycoris Recoil are Overlord and Call of the Night – the latter two being adaptations of a light novel and manga, respectively. Lycoris Recoil (also called LycoReco by fans) is an original anime series by A-1 Pictures. It is directed by Shingo Adachi and written by Asaura, with character design by Imigimuru. Set in an alternate world Japan, the series’ setting featured “Lycoris,” an all-female group of assassins and spies whose goal is to help keep the country safe. They do this by taking down terrorists and criminals, unbeknownst to the public. The series’ main heroines are Takina and Chisato. The story starts with Takina who disobeys direct orders and is demoted to the undercover agency outpost called LycoReco. There she works with Chisato. Takina and Chisato are opposites. Takina is a serious and strait-laced agent while Chisato is carefree and easygoing. But underneath this, Chisato is a capable agent, one of the best Lycoris there is even. Despite their differences, Takina must do her best to get along with her new partner if she wants to get her old position back. Lycoris Recoil episodes get released every week on Crunchyroll, shortly after their release in Japan.
