This new video for the Junji Ito anime was uploaded on the official Netflix Anime YouTube channel. Not only did it show off the anime’s title credits, but it also featured a new clip and revealed the show’s staff.
Who Is Junji Ito?
Junji Ito is one of the most renowned manga artists who is best known for his various horror titles. Ito has a big cult following driven by his works such as the three-volume series Uzumaki as well as the two-volume story Gyo. His works are often described as being body horror or cosmic horror stories, and they all feature Ito’s distinct and incredibly creepy art style. Ito has been active over the past couple of decades, and one of his most popular works is the manga Tomie which ran in Monthly Halloween from 1987 to 2000. The author has also been linked to the canceled Silent Hills game by Hideo Kojima and Guillermo Del Toro. As for this new series, Junji Ito Maniac is an anime adaptation of 20 stories by the renowned manga artist. The stories that are adapted include Hanging Blimp, Tomie・Photo, Four x Four Walls, and Intruder, among others. For its cast, the series stars Rie Suegara as Tomie, Yumiri Hanamori as Tsukiko Izumisawa, Yuji Mitsuya as Soichi, Hiro Shimono as Oshikiri, and Takahiro Sakurai as Kazuya Hikizuri, among others. Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre’s Netflix Release Date
The new video for Junji Ito’s anime revealed some of the main staff members. They include Shinobu Tagashira as the director and character designer. Tagashira was the director of the previous Junji Ito Collection TV anime. Joining him are Kaoru Sawada as the scriptwriter, Yuki Hayashi as the music composer, and Hozumi Goda as the sound director. This anime is being made by Studio DEEN, the anime studio behind the previous Junji Ito anime along with other works. As for the opening credits, the song Paranoid by MADKID is used. Though right now, the ending song is yet to be previewed. Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre will be released on Netflix worldwide on January 19, 2023.
