The sequel is set to be heavily focused on Lady Gaga’s portrayal of Harley Quinn with a deliverance of a ‘musical’ perspective, and though this has definitely turned some heads around for DC fans, original Joker actor Zazie Beets previously defended that “it makes wonderful sense.”

The first Joker film, after all, featured a different, more humanizing side and version of the Joker as the infamous Batman villain who had been suffering from a mental illness, as compared to the original Joker. Phoenix delivered a stellar performance that led him to win his first Oscar award back in 2020.

As for the Suicide Squad star, Margot Robbie, the previous Harley Quinn actor couldn’t be happier to pass on the torch as she previously said on MTV News. In fact, given Lady Gaga’s past performances, she not only excels in the music industry, but she has also proven herself to be quite versatile no matter the environment she gets put in.

Joker: Folie à Deux is currently slated for release on October 4, 2024.
