It all began when Gunn posted a no-context image of the character on his Mastodon page which immediately created a ton of buzz online. This was followed up by Momoa seemingly confirming that his “dream” DCU project is actually connected to the DC Studios co-head’s tease. As the rumor mill continues to spin rapidly, Australian digital artist Boss Logic is joining the DCU hype, unveiling his amazing artwork depicting Momoa as the interstellar mercenary and oftentimes thorn on the Man of Steel’s side. If anything, it seems to prove that Momoa has been cast in the wrong role all this time. Some argue that the actor can pull double duty and play both roles simultaneously but I personally think that’s too big of a risk for Gunn and Safran to take.It’s worth noting though that The Flash will hit the reset button on the DCU and if that’s the case, Momoa leaving his Arthur Curry role to become Lobo might just become a possibility.
