Why Is More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers Becoming a Hit?
From the title alone, More Than a Married Couple, But Not Lovers is gaining fans left and right because of its intriguing and very unique premise. It follows the story of third-year high schooler Jirou Yakuin who is secretly in love with his childhood friend named Shiori Sakurazaka. He wants to be paired with Shiori for the marriage practical course organized by the school. This unusual course pairs boys and girls with each other at random. The selected pairs are then asked to live as pretend couples in designated apartments. In this course, the school constantly monitors the activities of the mock couples and rates them according to how close they have gotten to each other. In the meantime, Akari Watanabe, a lively gyaru, wants to pair up with her crush named Minami Tenjin. Minami is quite a popular boy and Akari finds him incredibly good-looking. Sadly, fate has something else in store for Jirou and Akari as they ended up getting paired with each other. To complicate matters further, Minami and Shiori are partnered together. However, Akari and Jirou vow to be with their respective crushes. The duo decides to earn as many points as they can and land in the top 10 list. According to the rules, the top 10 couples will get a chance to swap their partners as long as both couples agree to switch.
