Is Squid Game Season 2 Coming Out in July 2022?

Unfortunately, Squid Game Season 2 will not be coming to the streaming giant in July 2022. One of the show’s actors, Lee Jung-jae (Seong Gi-hun), left a comment in an interview to People Magazine indicating that Season 2 could still be a long wait. “It feels like [Hwang Dong-hyuk] is really struggling to write the script. I actually wanted to ask director Hwang about it too.” Hwang has also been reported to have only about three pages of ideas for the second season so far. But the show’s executive producer Kim Ji-yeon reassures fans that they are already working on the script. “There’s definitely a lot of pressure on how to make [Season 2] even better.”

Squid Game Season 2 Plot: What We Know So Far

In its official announcement last month, Hwang shared some potential storylines that he is considering for Squid Game Season 2: “And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with ddakji might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su.” This confirms fan theories that Gi-hun (Lee Jung-jae) will return to dig up more information about the mysterious “Front Man” (Lee Byung-hun) and his brother Hwang Jun-ho (Wi Ha-joon), who was not confirmed dead after getting shot and falling off a cliff in Season 1. Hwang also hints that he is toying with the idea of bringing back Gong Yoo to answer questions about his role as the man in the suit. Also, a new character is said to be joining Season 2. But these aren’t official yet. More importantly, Young-hee, the killer doll, is reportedly getting a boyfriend in Season 2 named Cheol-su. But right now, that’s all we know about Season 2.
