The question now is whether it is suitable for kids to watch. Here’s what you should know about Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio.
Is Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio Suitable for Kids?
Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio has received a TV-14 rating on Netflix. This rating means that parents will need to be Strongly Cautioned about such films and shows due to some material that is not suitable for kids under the age of 14. And true enough, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio has a darker theme since it is set in Italy in the 1930s. The movie cannot be compared with the Disney+ version since it contains explosions and deaths. The fact alone that the film is made by del Toro is already an indication that it is not suitable for kids. The director is most famous for his dark projects, such as Pan’s Labyrinth and the recently launched Cabinet of Curiosities.
Is Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio the Same as the Disney Version?
This Pinocchio version is thought-provoking and far from the classic tale. The reason why it was rated TV-14 is that it contains violence, some rude humor, peril, dark theme material, and brief smoking. The story also features a character who gets reincarnated several times, accidents, fights, fires, religious overtones, and a sea monster that might be too story for young kids.
Should I Let My Child Watch Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio?
If you are a parent, it may be best that you skip this film for your child. Or you can watch it with your partner but make sure that your child is nowhere near the TV. Either way, you can check out the trailer below if it is too dark for your child:
