Is Disney’s Strange World An LGBTQ+ Movie?
Strange World will follow a legendary family of explorers who found some differences between themselves but they are getting into a journey to Avalonia, a mysterious planet where surreal lifeforms live, and three generations of explorers will be diving deep into the unknown. One of the members of the legendary family of explorers in Strange World is Ethan Clade, voiced by Jaboukie Young-White, and his appearance is a win for Disney’s representation and inclusion. See, he is an openly gay character who joins the exploration to navigate his school crush, Diazo. The introduction of Ethan as a biracial openly gay character garnered a lot of praise online and the character being introduced by Disney which speaks a lot about representation and inclusion. Ethan being queer plays a huge part of his narrative and it deserves the spotlight. Here are some of the tweets online:
Ethan Clade is a huge step for Disney and in the movie, his family encouraged him for whoever he wants to be. There is acceptance from within for Ethan to embrace his sexuality which speaks volumes a tenfold.
