In House of the Dragon Episode 3, it has been two years since King Viserys I Targaryen took Alicent Hightower as his new wife. Alicent has since given birth to a son who is named Aegon II Targaryen. Meanwhile, Rhaenyra Targaryen has grown distant from her father and former best friend, a riff that grows as she learns that she is expected to marry and have children of her own while her half-brother could be named as the new heir. Most of the episode is spent in celebration of Prince Aegon’s birthday. That means Otto Hightower and members of the Small Council made moves to place the boy as the king’s heir while the ladies of the court gossiped about Rhaenyra finding a husband. Still, the war wages on the Stepstones as Daemon and Corlys Velaryon struggled to defeat Craghas Drahar aka Crabfeeder and the Triarchy.
At this point, Corlys’ brother Vaemond Velaryon sends word to Viserys asking for aid in the war. Although Viserys initially resists, he decides to send 10 ships to help Daemon and Corlys in their fight. The furious Daemon then sets off to surrender to Crabfeeder but the move is just as an act as the army attacks in full force. Daemon’s brutality is also in full force here despite not being on his dragon. However, the most terrifying act, which happens when he pursues Crabfeeder into a cave, is not shown in House of the Dragon Episode 3. Instead, we see the bloody aftermath as Daemon has torn the man into pieces. House of the Dragon Episode 4 is titled King of the Narrow Sea. The new episode will premiere on HBO on Sunday, September 11, 2022, at 9:00 PM EST.
