The next chapter was released in Japan on July 13 at midnight Japan time. Later in the day at 5:55 PM Japan time, Shonen Jump+ editor Shihei Lin posted a tweet highlighting that Chapter 98 has gotten over 2.6 million views on Jump+. Just a few hours after this tweet, the chapter’s view count has reached over 3 million on Jump+ while still within 24 hours of its publication. This view count is impressive considering that the chapter was released at midnight on a weekday. This means a lot of Chainsaw Man fans in Japan probably stayed up late just to read the next chapter. What makes it even more impressive is that this view count is only for Jump+. This means the over 3 million views that the chapter got were almost all from Japan. Chainsaw Man Part 2 received a simultaneous worldwide release in several languages via Manga Plus and Viz Media for free. Given that overseas readers aren’t counted in the Jump+ views, it’s likely that the latest chapter has way more views in total worldwide. Even without seeing the Manga Plus view count, it’s undeniable that Chainsaw Man’s new chapter was a big hit internationally. After all, the series reached the top trending spots on Twitter in several countries following its release. Chainsaw Man is a manga series by Tatsuki Fujimoto which initially ran from December 2018 to December 2020 on Weekly Shonen Jump. Its initial run – now called Part 1 – ended at chapter 97. Its story is considered one big story arc. The story continues in Part 2 which is now ongoing. Chainsaw Man Chapter 99 will release next week on July 19. The manga serializes on Jump+ in Japan, and Manga Plus worldwide.
