Spoiler Warning: There are Chainsaw Man spoilers ahead!
How Did Denji Become Chainsaw Man?
Denji starts out like any ordinary human boy, except he was deprived of love from family and friends. When he met Pochita in a fateful encounter, Denji offered his blood in exchange for a contract between them. Pochita, as it turns out, is the Chainsaw Devil, who has been reduced to a doglike form after successfully escaping from the Four Horsemen and the Weapon Devils, who attacked him all at once in Hell. Since entering into a contract with Pochita, Denji has become a lapdog for a yakuza group that holds him at gunpoint. After Denji’s father died, he inherited his debt and even promised to pay the yakuza by killing and hunting devils. Denji grew up, but he was still repaying his father’s debt. In an unexpected turn of events, the yakuza duped him into confronting the Zombie Devil, who wants him dead. After many years of faithful service, they framed him. Denji was dismembered and thrown into one of the bins in the warehouse where the Zombie Devil resides. Pochita was also hurt, and the two of them were abandoned to die. Fortunately, Denji’s blood made its way into Pochita’s mouth. This gave the two of them a chance to survive, as Pochita eventually decided to become Denji’s heart. Denji pulled the cord on his chest and transformed into the titular Chainsaw Man after he and Pochita were fused together. ALSO READ: Why Is Chainsaw Man So Powerful?
