As the new Bleach anime serves as the conclusion to the series’ story, there are many fights in Thousand-Year Blood War. Based on the first two episodes, fans won’t have to worry about censorship as the fights that have been shown so far are not sanitized for G-rated viewing.
Reactions to Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’s Lack of Censorship
Before the anime came out, there were fears that the anime will be censored. This is based on the source materials’ final arc which has a lot of violent fights, as well as the rumors that the series will be a Disney+ exclusive which might mean it’ll be censored. Despite the rumors, there were also fears that the anime will not get simulcast outside Japan. This is because VIZ Media didn’t announce where the anime will be released outside Japan until one week after its air date. In early October, it was finally revealed that Thousand-Year Blood War will stream on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in other countries. Right now though, the anime continues to be unavailable in some regions. Even though it was released on Disney+ in several countries, fans were happy to note that the fight scenes were not censored at all. This is unlike the original anime’s run which featured fights that did not get as violent. Given this, there are fans who expressed their excitement for the later fights which promise to have even bigger scales.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War’s Impressive Animation Quality
Aside from the lack of censorship, many fans also praised the animation quality of the show, with some saying that they think the animation is cinematic level. The CG animation also received praise which is interesting considering there are fans who are vehemently against any form of CG. Along with fans, even Ichigo’s voice actor, Masakazu Morita, also mentioned how impressed he was with the series’ animation quality. He shared this along with how he felt about returning to the iconic anime series in a recent interview. Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War will continue with Episode 3 which will release next week.
