Black Adam Character Guide: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as Black Adam/ Teth-Adam
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be making his DCEU debut as Black Adam in his own titular film. Known as the archenemy of Shazam, Black Adam was the ruler of Kahndaq where he is the judge, the jury, and the executioner. Black Adam used to be a hero of Kahndaq after being bestowed by the wizards unimaginable powers which later corrupted his morals leading to the release of the Seven Deadly Sins. Black Adam was imprisoned for 5000 years before being released into the modern times. Black Adam has superhuman speed, strength, reflexes, flight, invulnerability, and electrokinesis. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson previously voiced Krypto the Superdog in DC’s League of Super-Pets and appeared in films such as Fast and Furious franchise, Jumanji, Jungle Cruise, Red Notice, among others.
Black Adam Character Guide: Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate/ Kent Nelson
Pierce Brosnan takes on the role as the elder of the Justice Society of America, Kent Nelson, a.k.a. Doctor Fate. Nelson is the son of an archaeologist who unearthed the tomb of Nabu where the Helmet of Fate was retrieved. The Helmet of Fate grants its wielder magical sorcery abilities coupled with the art of casting spells which grants Doctor Fate flight, necromancy, teleportation, invisibility, interdimensional travel, magical prowess, among others. Nelson is among the founders of the Justice Society of America. Pierce Brosnan is best known for his roles as James Bond in the Bond film series from 1995 to 2002, Dante’s Peak, Mamma Mia! and its sequel, The Ghost Writer, Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, The November Man, among others.

Aldis Hodge will be lording the skies as he takes flight as Carter Hall a.k.a. Hawkman. Hall is an archaeologist like Nelson and he is also a museum curator who became the reincarnation of Khufu, an old Egyptian prince who sent Black Adam into prison. Hawkman has the ability of flight with his Nth metal wings and gets various incarnations throughout the years. Hawkman can also breathe underwater and communicate with animals. Aldis Hodge previously appeared in titles such as Die Hard with a Vengeance, Bed of Roses, Leverage and its sequel, City on a Hill, Underground, The Invisible Man, and One Night in Miami.
Black Adam Character Guide: Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher/ Albert Rothstein
Noah Centineo gets to be larger than life as he plays Albert Rothstein a.k.a. Atom Smasher. Another founding member of the Justice Society of America, the Atom Smasher can manipulate his molecular structure to his preference and adjust to size, strength, and speed, depending on the situation. Albert Rothstein inherited is abilities from his grandfather Al Pratt a.k.a. Atom, a supervillain. From an anti-hero, his moral journey takes him into a path of being a superhero. Noah Centineo is best known for his roles in To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before and its sequel, Sierra Burgess is a Loser, SPF-18, Swiped, and The Perfect Date.

Black Adam Character Guide: Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone/ Maxine Hunkel
Quintessa Swindell storms the world as she controls the wind and make some noise suiting up as Maxine Hunkel a.k.a. Cyclone. Coming from a lineage of superheroes, Cyclone is the granddaughter of Abigail Hunkel a.k.a. Red Tornado. Cyclone has a tragic childhood where she was kidnapped by a scientist and was experimented on to create an android Red Tornado. She has the power to project wind blasts, summon whirlwinds, and flight when near a water source or strong winds. Quintessa Swindell previously appeared on titles such as Trinkets, In Treatment, Granada Nights, and Voyagers.
Black Adam Character Guide: Marwan Kenzari as Sabbac/ Ishmael Gregor
The villain of Black Adam in the film is Marwan Kenzari as Ishmael Gregor a.k.a. Sabbac. Gregor is a Russian immigrant who built a criminal organization in New York, the Intergang, who has been possessed by a demon giving him demonic abilities and a beast-like appearance. Sabbac proves to be a force to be reckoned with given his abilities of superhuman agility, strength, flight, endurance, and fire projection which would force Black Adam to work with the Justice Society of America and defeat the villain once and for all. Marwan Kenzari is best known for his role in Wolf which gave him a Golden Calf award for Best Actor. He previously appeared in Aladdin, Ben-hur, The Old Guard, Murder of the Orient Express, What Happened to Monday, among others.
Black Adam Character Guide: Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz
Sarah Shahi brings in the resistance as she portrays Adrianna Tomaz, professor and fighter in Kahndaq. She was given as a present to Black Adam and she received an ancient amulet with the magic of Shazam which makes her Isis and gives her control over the elements of nature. It is unknown whether she will be suiting up as Isis in Black Adam. Sarah Shahi previously appeared in Alias, Teaches, Chicago Fire, Person of Interest, Reverie, and Sex/Life.

The world is shocked to see Amanda Waller in one of the trailers of Black Adam. Known for her appearances in Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller is the director of the team of supervillains being sent to various do-or-die missions under the table, and she oversees a research for people with powers. Amanda Waller will be played by Viola Davis who is an award-winning actress best known for her appearances on How To Get Away With Murder, Fences, Widows, The Help, Ma Rainer’s Black Bottom, and recently, The Woman King. Black Adam arrives as a force to be reckoned with in theaters on October 21, 2022.
