Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania opens Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a promising reveal of Kang the Conqueror and while Jonathan Majors already made his MCU debut on Loki, there, he plays a variant of the villain as He Who Remains. In Loki, variants are introduced in the franchise where a person has his or her own version in an alternate timeline, and He Who Remains warned everyone about a variant of him that is so villainous, he could shake the whole multiverse in all its sense, that is Kang the Conqueror. Whether the villainous Kang the Conqueror will be who everyone will witness in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania still remains a question but in an interview with Empire magazine, the director of the threequel, Peyton Reed, reveals some plot details about the Kang the Conqueror who will be in the movie.
Reed teased, “Kang The Conqueror in our movie is a very different character. He’s someone who has dominion over time, and he’s a warrior and a strategist.” Reed also explains why Ant-Man will be dealing with Kang the Conqueror in the movie and not other Avenger, “That’s interesting to me: to take the tiniest, and in some people’s minds weakest, Avenger, and put them up against this absolute force of nature.” Based on what Peyton Reed said, it gives quite a context on the part of the trailer where Kang the Conqueror offers Scott Lang a way out in exchange for his help, and it seems that Kang may not be the main villain in this case, or just a villain looking for a way out from another villain, possibly MODOK.

Whether Scott Lang would be up for the offer, it’s quite a tricky thing to ask because in the first place, does Scott even have a choice to decline? Well, it’s also possible that this variant of Kang the Conqueror would be it, the main villain that everyone will be facing by the end of Phase Six of the MCU. Who knows? The MCU just open a ton of possibilities with the multiverse and variants, anyone could be anyone at this point. Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania takes everyone into a whole new dimension in theaters on February 17, 2023.
