Did Ranko Die?
Yes, Ranko died in Akiba Maid War. She died in Nagomi’s arms after being stabbed by an unknown assailant in the middle of Akiba’s busy streets. Ranko told Nagomi before she died that she still wanted to be a maid and spend time with her fellow maids at the Ton Tokoton Café. While the other Ton Tokoton Café maids mourn Ranko’s death, Nagomi decides to find out who killed Ranko. She put on a black sunglass and changed her maid uniform, all while concealing Ranko’s gun in her pockets.
Who Killed Ranko?
Ranko’s assassin is a pink-haired maid from the Wuv Wuv Moonbeam Café, which Ranko wiped out after getting out of the joint. She insists that she is not a Creature Land maid—nor even an axolotl—but rather a space bunny who belongs only to the Wuv Wuv Moonbeam Café. Knowing who killed Ranko, Uzuko decides to give the maid a chance to prove herself, given that she managed to kill one of Akiba’s best maids. Instead of sending her to the Kanda River to swim with the fish, Uzuko orders Ranko’s killer to accompany her in an all-out war against the maids of the Ton Tokoton Café. Did Nagomi Find Out Who Ranko’s Killer Is?
Yes, Nagomi discovers Ranko’s killer after pointing a gun at a Creature Land maid on a rainy night in Akiba. She also learns what Uzuko had planned against the Ton Tokoton Café, though it is unclear whether she was also the one who ordered Ranko’s assassination. Nagomi also instructed the Creature Land maid to inform Uzuko that she was in mourning and had turned black. She then talks to the owner of the ramen shop beneath their café to learn more about Uzuko and Ranko’s previous relationship. Uzuko was taken in by the manager of the Maid Teahouse Café when she was a child. The café was previously located in the same building as Ton Tokoton Café, and the manager was a woman named Michiyo. Uzuko was supposed to be the teahouse’s next manager, but not until Michiyo grew fond of Ranko and her nonviolent ideology among the other maids. As a result, Uzuko hired a hitman to assassinate Michiyo, frame Ranko, and ascend to power.
What Happened to Ton Tokoton Café?
Nagomi has forced her fellow maids to stand up and kill as many Creature Land maids as possible to honor Ranko’s death since Uzuko began gathering maid soldiers with deadly weapons to annihilate the Ton Tokoton Café maids. Before the final confrontation, Nagomi decides to pay a visit to the site of Nerura’s death to apologize for resorting to violence against the other maids rather than sticking to her peaceful approach. A number of Creature Land maids beat Nagomi on the way back to Ton Tokoton Café for her previous actions and behavior toward the underling maid she had pointed a gun. Nagomi snapped, as a result, giving the impression that she is a crazy maid waiting for her death. Thanks to a police siren, the maids left Nagomi alive. She returns to her room and finds Ranko’s personal and sentimental belongings, which made her cry. Nagomi realizes she must honor Ranko’s death by carrying on her legacy as a true maid who only wants to provide the best service and moe to her guests. Nagomi meets with the other maids at Ton Tokoton Café and persuades them to launch an all-out maid war against Uzuko and the Creature Land Group without resorting to violence. Despite their abusive and aggressive behavior, the Ton Tokoton Café decides to accommodate Uzuko and the other maids by treating them as guests during the final confrontation.
Did Nagomi Die?
In the final performance in front of Uzuko and the Creature Land maids, Nagomi was shot multiple times by Uzuko, who can’t help but be reminded of Michiyo and her time with Ranko in the Maid Teahouse in the past. However, after shooting Nagomi, Uzuko was shot in the head by Ranko’s assassin and struck down with a bamboo spear thrown by Okachimachi. In the post-credits scene, Akiba Maid War jumps forward in time to show Nerura’s regular customers walking toward the Ton Tokoton Café. They were discussing how Akiba had once been a hotbed of maid violence. Nagomi, now 36 years old, greets customers in the Ton Tokoton Café with a smile, indicating that the worst has passed in Akiba’s Maid Café industry since Uzuko’s death. Unfortunately, Nagomi is in a wheelchair, implying that the injuries she sustained back then affected her as well. Want the latest on all things anime? Make sure you follow us on Twitter!
